Second chance for leukaemia man

A Malaysian doctor, accompanied by a volunteer from the buddhist Tzu Chi organisation, had brought back the 200ml stem cells which was kept in a box at a temperatureof -4c which was witness by many pressman. It was a race against time for the doctor who had to delivered the cell within 24 hours to kuala Lumpur, once it was brought from the hospital in Taiwan.

It differs from bone marrow transplant which requires anaesthesia and extraction of the stem cells directly from the bone marrowsaid the doctor who personally sent the stemcells to the hospital where a blood tranfusionwas successfully carried out on the leukaemia patients Kok Boon.

Kok Boon, a former thchnician was diagnoise with leukaemia in May last year and started six intensive chemotherapies since then.After a year long wait a donors were identified through Buddhist Tzu Chi stem cell centre in Taiwan.
